This was the last day we were in Santa Marta and a beach that we really wanted to visit. We first had to go to Taganga beach and then took a boat to Playa Grande. Playa Grande was located on the other side of the mountain/rock from Taganga and very beautiful! We got there early in the morning, 9:00 for us, very early for them! We were the only ones needing a boat ride at the time so Eduardo was able to bargain us a good deal there and back. Once we arrived, we were the only ones there for about 3 hours. I am not kidding!
The private beach was very small and very different. First of all, no electricity so everything was brought over by boats and cooked over fires. Our lunch was delicious and a fresh catch from the ocean with coconut rice and plaintains. It was one of my favorite lunches!
After lunch it started getting very crowded and Ana Maria needed to take a good nap under shade, so we decided to ride the boat back early to Taganga and let her sleep where she slept before.
It was a very fun day and we were so happy we got to see Playa Grande!
Eduardo and Ana Maria on the boat ride. This was Juan Manuel's first boat ride as well as Ana Maria's!
Tia Maria Cristina getting excited!
This was the view of Taganga when we left on the boat, so relaxing!
Different views of what we were seeing :)
This was the view of Playa Grande as we were arriving.
Ana Maria had the whole beach to herself!
Juan Manuel and Eduardo took a hike up the mountain and these are pictures of what they saw:
This was the hut that we sat and ate under. They built everything by hand.
This was a little boy and his family that we became friendly to. We find friends wherever we go!
This was the beach when we left, many more people.
Each hut belonged to a different boat. Whichever boat you came over on, you ate at their house/restaurant. It was very different and very interesting.
The delicious fish we ate for lunch!
One our way back to Taganga for naps...
She loved the boat rides with Eduardo. I was alwasys the photographer!
Once we got there, they both crashed together! I love this picture!
Our boat ride to Playa Granda. The scenery was breathtaking!
A good concert we stopped and watch for a few minutes. It was so hot to just stand there!!

Beautiful! Lots of fun! Love how the mountains lead right to the beach.
