LEE IS DONE!!

WHOO-HOOO!!
Lee finished his last treatment of chemo today and is on his way home!! I can't explain on this blog or to you the feeling that my family has. I wish more than anything I could have been there for the moment of him saying goodbye to all the unbelievable doctors and nurses that have been with him through this since November.
Mom went down to the hospital with him Friday and Sarah and Dad joined them on Sunday. They stayed the night last night and was there to celebrate the big day today with him. While mom, Sarah and I were in Hollywood while I was there, we found a great Nike Outlet that sold all of the Lance Armstrong collection. We bought a shirt for everyone in the family and they wore them to celebrate today. Lee's was the most perfect that said "100% BACK".
Sarah called on their way home just now telling me everything. The best way to put it, is that it's "bittersweet". It must have been so hard for all the nurses and doctors to hold back their emotions as Lee left the hospital. We know they are going to miss him so much but are so happy that he is such a successful story and ALL DONE! Sarah said Lee wanted to make sure he said bye personally to each person at the hospital that he has grown to know over the last 9 months. He had a special relationship with everyone there, even the security guards!
The child life specailists sang him a special farewell song and gave him a fishing charter certificate to use soon.
I know from being there the week Ana Maria and I were with him in the hospital, just how special Lee was to them, and how special they were to Lee. Mom and Sarah would tell me that when they saw Lee coming down the hall to be admitted, they would fight over which nurse he would get. They all wanted Lee! They must have wanted to hear his rap music he would blare on his computer or smell his cologne he would spray in the room, haha!!
Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital has been my families second home for a long time. I know it's going to take a while for everyone to get re-adjusted and realize they aren't going back. It's also amazing to see how Lee responded so well to the chemo. He is so strong and I can't wait to see all the good things that God has in store for him.
We are SO PROUD of you LEE!!

This picture of Lee and I was taken at a restaurant in Boca Raton on our last night before we flew to Fayetteville. He was in so much pain but never complained. That's just how Lee is!

This is Matt Hill, the men's tennis assistant at Mississippi State University. He survived osteosarcoma over 6 years ago and is so proud of Lee. Lee and Matt talked on the phone several times but this was the first time they met. It was an amazing moment!
