ER

ER stands for Emergency Room...
Saturday morning I woke up and felt great. I had been talking to my mom about wanting to do something as a family outside and then started working on Kathryns room. It really was the first morning since we got home Wednesday that I was feeling normal and engergized. I started working on Kathryns room sorting out clothes and felt so cold. I thought the room was just cold so I grabbed a sweater and put the air up a little in the house.
Kathryn was sleeping and Ana Maria was helping me while Eduardo cleaned the kitchen. This probably went on for an hour and the whole time I was feeling so cold. Eduard offered to take Ana Maria to the park and asked if I wanted to go. I told him I was starting not to feel good and would just lay down on the couch while they went.
They were gone an hour and the whole time I never turned the TV on, just laid there with a fever. I was freezing cold with my sweater on and a comforter on top. I was just shivering by the time they came home and told Eduardo right away I needed help. He took my temp. and it was 104'. Wow! We couldn't believe it. Luckily Kathryn had been sleeping this whole time so I didn't have to worry about her.

Immediantly Eduardo called the doctor and they told me to report straight to the ER. They were waiting on me when I got there because I was 5 days post partum and it was serious. When I got to the ER my temp was 102.9' and I was starting to feel a little better after I had taken 800mg of motrin before we left the house.
They got me a room right away in the ER around 1:00 and by 5:00 I was being admitted to the hospital. The doctor told me I would be there 2-3 days and I couldn't believe what was happening! I was also told at that point that my room would be in pediatrics and that no one could be with me...Eduardo, Kathryn, Ana Maria. I was devastated!!
Ana Maria had been at Tara's house all day and then Ambre was picking her up to spend the night at their house. Eduardo went home with Kathryn and was going to be there alone with her.

I was so upset and sat in my room alone for 3 hours when the doctor finally came in and asked if I wanted to be moved to Labor and Delivery so the family could be with me. Of course I said yes!!
We left Ana Maria with Ambre and Eduardo and Kathryn came back around 8:00 to the hospital to be with me. I was put on antibiotics for 24 hours and was told possibly I could go home the next day. During my whole stay there I still had fever and so on Sunday they still wouldn't let me go home. Ana Maria spent the night with us that night in the hospital and thought it was so fun and cool! We were just so happy to have her with us at that point and to be a family again!

Finally Monday morning I was released to go home.
The urine culture came back positive that it was a Urinary tract infection. That was all! I was so relieved and happy when they told us that was what was causing the fevers. When I left Monday I still had a fever but they allowed me to go home and sent me home with another antibiotic and more motrin for the fever.

Eduardo deserves the dad of the year award for everything he went through last week between the birth and then the extra three days we spent there! He took care of Kathryn the whole time we went back to the hospital and is super dad!!
I am perfect now and back to normal with my two kids and husband :) I actually feel great and happy!!
I had to write all this down so I would remember everything that happened because it still feels like a dream. It all happened so fast and was such a shock. I thank God for my health everyday and for my wonderful family!!

A huge thank you also to everyone that offered to help us with the kids and meals. Tara and Ambre, you saved our life by allowing Ana Maria to spend time with you and your families! Thank you for making her feel so comfortable when we couldn't be with her. Thank you!!
(Ambre took these pictures while Ana Maria was with them at their church picnic on Sunday...thank you Ambre and Brad!)

Oh, that sounds terrible! It is so exhausting to be home after having the baby but to add that on top of it is crazy! I am so glad to hear you are feeling better. I can't wait to see you!
